Job Title: Contract Fiber Technician
Overview: We are seeking a skilled Fiber Technician to join our team. As a Fiber Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks. You will work closely with our team to ensure the seamless connectivity of our clients’ networks, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of their operations.
Responsibilities:
- Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables according to industry standards and project specifications.
- Perform site surveys to assess fiber optic network requirements and develop installation plans.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network issues, including signal loss, fiber breaks, and equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records of fiber optic network installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to quality standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to fiber optic networks.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience working with fiber optic cables, including installation, splicing, termination, and testing is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic network components, equipment, and protocols.
- Proficiency in using fiber optic splicing and testing equipment, such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve fiber optic network issues effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment, and working in confined spaces.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Must have a vehicle able to carry a 28ft ladder (SUV, Truck, or Van).
- Having your own tools is preferred but not required.
Job Schedule:
Monday through Saturday, two jobs per day.
Pay Rate:
The weekly pay rate is $1,400-$1,700 based on experience. Paid training is provided.
